American and Japanese schools are very different. For example, American high schools are different from Japanese ones, because in America there aren't tests for entrance into high school. Additionally, in comparison to American high school students, who seem to study less, Japanese students seem to study hard. In spite of this, American college students seem to study more than Japanese college students.

Japanese schools seem to be very strict. The high school I went to wasn't very strict. In my fourth year, wearing hats was prohibited. Because of this, everyone got annoyed, and no matter how many rules the school put in effect, the students broke them.

In reality, the high school students had a lot of freedom. For instance, because our school let us leave campus between classes, we were permitted to walk outside to eat lunch.
